To give home builders an up-close look at the ANSI-approved National Green Building Standard, launched by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) in 2008, NAHB chapters around the country are offering the two-day educational course "Green Building for Building Professionals."

Participants will learn how to apply the National Green Building Standard for new homes, remodels, site development, and multifamily projects, and will focus on building a solid knowledge base and providing the tools for a successful, cost-effective green project. During the course, professionals will learn:

  • How to integrate sound building science principles into design decisions and the materials selection process;
  • How to implement the National Green Building Standard;
  • How to examine specific best green building practices in each chapter of the National Green Building Standard;
  • How to evaluate and sell homes in the growing green marketplace.

    In addition to gaining familiarity with the National Green Building Standard, this course also counts toward earning the NAHB's Certified Green Professional credential.

    From March through December 2010, "Green Building for Building Professionals" will be held by NAHB chapters in Washington, Alabama, New York, New Mexico, Missouri, Louisiana, New Mexico, Texas, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Illinois, New Jersey, Georgia, Montana, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
