REMODELING today announced its 2018 Remodeling Design Award winners. The Project of the Year, four grand winners, and four merit winners were chosen by a panel of four judges from a field of 134 entries entered by remodelers, architects, and other design professionals from across the country.

The judges’ panel consisted of Karman Hotchkiss, executive editor, home/garden/crafts for Better Home and Gardens special interest publications; Bryan Slowick, architect and owner of BDS Design Build Remodel in Libertyville, Ill.; Bruce Gingrich, owner of Glenn Gingrich, Inc., in New Holland, Pa.; and Craig Webb, the editor-in-chief of REMODELING magazine. The judges were impressed by how the winning projects adapted to their given conditions and excelled. One of this year’s winners was limited to just $20,000 to refit a studio for a couple and three dogs. Another was asked to install a gentlemen’s club in what amounted to an attic. Several were pushed to make changes so subtle that nobody would be able to tell what was new, while in other cases the request was for a complete facelift.

All the winning projects will be featured in the September/October issue of REMODELING magazine, a national trade publication read by more than 130,000 professional remodeling contractors, as well as on REMODELING’s website.
